4-point lock heat sealing ring

1/2-inch Heat-Locking Sealing Ring for Solar Water Tanks

The 1/2-inch heat-locking sealing ring is a special-purpose sealing component designed for solar water heater tanks with 1/2-inch (G1/2) interfaces. It integrates dual functions of sealing and heat retention, and serves as one of the core parts to ensure the thermal insulation performance and leakproofness of solar water tanks.

Core Parameters & Structure

Specification & Dimensions

It is compatible with the industry-standard 1/2-inch (G1/2) threaded interface. The common dimensions are outer diameter 18–22mm, inner diameter 12–14mm, and thickness 3–5mm. Dimensions can be adjusted according to the depth of tank interfaces and pressure-bearing requirements, making it suitable for water inlets/outlets, sensor mounting ports, and exhaust ports.

Structural Design

Most products adopt a ring-shaped structure, and some are designed with concave-convex anti-slip patterns or lip structures:

Anti-slip patterns enhance friction with the interface to prevent loosening after installation.

Lip structures can tightly fit into the interface gaps under pressure, improving both sealing and heat-locking performance.

Some high-end products are built with an internal nylon framework to enhance pressure resistance and avoid deformation under long-term pressure.

Material Characteristics

The mainstream material is high-temperature resistant silicone rubber (methyl vinyl silicone rubber). For premium-grade products, anti-aging additives are incorporated or EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) composite materials are adopted. The core characteristics are as follows:

Temperature & Weather Resistance

It can operate stably in environments ranging from -40℃ to 200℃. It withstands high temperatures of hot water inside solar tanks and resists harsh outdoor conditions such as direct sunlight, rain, snow, and low temperatures without hardening or cracking.

Heat Retention & Insulation

Silicone rubber features a low thermal conductivity, which reduces heat loss from tank interfaces, helps improve the thermal insulation efficiency of solar water heaters, and lowers energy consumption.

Sealing & Leakproofness

With excellent elasticity, it fills the tiny gaps between interfaces and pipe fittings under pressure, effectively preventing hot water leakage from tanks and isolating outside cold air and dust from entering the tank.

Eco-friendliness & Corrosion Resistance

Non-toxic and odorless, it does not react with water quality and complies with drinking water contact safety standards. It is resistant to weak acid and weak alkali corrosion, and will not age due to erosion by minerals in water.

Application Scenarios

It is mainly used for storage tanks of flat-plate and vacuum tube solar water heaters, with specific installation positions including:

Connection points between tank water inlets/outlets and water pipes.

Mounting interfaces for temperature sensors and water level sensors.

Sealing positions of tank exhaust ports and blowdown ports.

Installation & Selection Tips

Installation Notes

Clean scale and debris from the interface before installation to ensure a clean and flat contact surface.

Slide the sealing ring onto the pipe fitting first, then tighten the threads with moderate force to avoid deformation or damage caused by over-tightening.

Conduct a water pressure test after installation to check for leaks.

Selection Tips

Confirm the interface specification is 1/2-inch (G1/2) to prevent sealing failure due to mismatched dimensions.

Prioritize products with RoHS and food-grade contact certifications to ensure water safety.

Check the appearance: High-quality sealing rings have smooth surfaces without burrs, bubbles, or impurities, with excellent elasticity and quick rebound after being pressed.

Maintenance Recommendations

Inspect the sealing ring every 1–2 years. Replace it promptly if signs of aging, hardening, cracking, or deformation are observed.

Drain water from the tank if the solar water heater is out of service for a long time, to avoid accelerated aging of the sealing ring caused by prolonged immersion in water.
