Medical Device Silicone Accessory - Medical-Grade Silicone Cable Grommet

The medical-grade silicone cable grommet is a medical-grade silicone protective accessory exclusively designed for medical device wiring harnesses, integrally molded/extruded from medical-grade platinum-cured silicone rubber. It is mainly sleeved on the bending points, panel penetration points and connector joints of internal/external wiring harnesses of medical devices, realizing four core functions: anti-bending & wear resistance, harness protection, insulation & flame retardancy, and sealing & dust proofing. Adapted to the harness protection needs of various medical devices including monitors, physiotherapy instruments, surgical equipment, rehabilitation devices and clinical analyzers, it complies with medical standards such as ISO9001 and FDA, and integrates the properties of disinfection resistance, anti-aging and high-elasticity fitting. It is a core matching part to ensure the service life of medical device wiring harnesses and improve the electrical safety of equipment.

Core Material Properties

The entire product is made of medical-grade methyl vinyl silicone rubber (custom fluorosilicone rubber for special scenarios), with low-molecular volatiles removed through secondary vulcanization. It is plasticizer-free, halogen-free and free of harmful substance leaching. The platinum vulcanization process ensures material purity and biocompatibility, and all properties meet the protection scenario requirements of medical device wiring harnesses and medical hygiene standards:
  1. High Elasticity & Anti-Bending, Wear & Tear Resistance

    With a flexible design of Shore hardness 40°~55° and excellent elasticity and resilience, its permanent compression set is ≤5%. Sleeved on the bending points of harnesses, it can buffer bending stress, making the harness bending radius ≥3 times the wire diameter and avoiding core wire breakage caused by repeated bending. It has a tear strength of ≥25kN/m, resists harness pulling and friction, with no cracking or chipping after long-term use and a wear resistance of ≥100,000 cycles.

  2. Insulation & Flame Retardancy, Ensuring Electrical Safety

    It features high-quality medical-grade electrical insulation with a volume resistivity of ≥10¹⁴Ω·cm and a breakdown voltage of ≥20kV/mm, effectively isolating wiring harnesses from metal parts of equipment and preventing short circuits and electric leakage. Complying with the UL94 V-0 flame retardant standard, it self-extinguishes when exposed to open fire with no toxic smoke generated, avoiding the risk of electrical fires caused by harness aging and meeting the high safety requirements of medical devices.

  3. Resistant to High-Frequency Medical Disinfection, Easy to Clean

    Withstands mainstream medical disinfection methods such as 75% alcohol wiping, iodophor disinfection, ultraviolet disinfection and ethylene oxide sterilization. The silicone remains unaged, non-sticky and unhardened after repeated disinfection with no disinfectant residue; its smooth, pore-free surface allows for easy removal of dust and medicinal liquid stains with a single wipe, meeting the high hygiene standards of operating rooms, clinics and monitoring rooms.

  4. Temperature & Medium Resistance, Stable Performance

    The operating temperature range is -60℃~200℃, with no embrittlement at low temperatures and no softening at high temperatures, compatible with the working temperature rise and disinfection high temperature of medical devices. It resists immersion in media such as human sweat, normal saline, medical coupling gel, weak acid and weak alkali disinfectants, with no swelling, degradation or discoloration, adapting to multi-scenario use in hospitals.

  5. Excellent Biocompatibility, No Contact Risks

    It has passed core tests including cytotoxicity, skin irritation and delayed hypersensitivity. No irritation or sensitization is caused in direct/indirect contact with the hands of medical staff and patients' skin, complying with the skin contact safety standards for medical accessories and adapting to the protection needs of wiring harnesses of external handheld devices.

  6. Excellent Fitting Performance, Adapted to Multi-Specification Harnesses

    The flexible silicone can self-adapt to harnesses of different outer diameters, and its inner wall is treated with micro-matte anti-slip texture, closely fitting the harness surface without loosening or displacement after sleeving. A variety of inner diameter specifications cover the mainstream wiring harnesses of medical devices and can be customized on demand, adapting to the differentiated protection needs of thin internal harnesses and thick external harnesses of equipment.

  7. Anti-Aging & Weather Resistance, Long Service Life

    It resists corrosion from ultraviolet rays, ozone and moisture, with no yellowing, chalking or hardening during long-term use in the constant temperature and humid hospital environment, maintaining long-lasting protection effect.
